Republican 2024 Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has shared his perspective on the cause of the Capitol riot that took place on January 6, 2021.

Speaking at the Family Leadership Summit in Des Moines, Iowa, Ramaswamy pointed out the negative impact of Covid vaccine mandates and lockdowns on the American people at the time.

During the event, Ramaswamy attributed the pervasive censorship in the country as a significant factor leading to the January 6th incident. He argued that when people are told they cannot speak, they eventually resort to screaming, and when they are denied the ability to scream, they turn to tearing things down.

Former US President Donald Trump had previously attributed the riots to allegations of election rigging during the 2020 Presidential elections, where he lost to Joe Biden. Trump's claims of voter fraud were met with scrutiny, and he faced accusations of inciting his supporters to engage in violence during the Capitol attack.

The House select committee conducted an investigation into the causes of the violence and released a report stating that Trump "lit that fire."

The report highlighted over 200 instances of outreach, pressure, or condemnation by Trump or his inner circle aimed at overturning state election results.
